15 Disney Gifts for the Kitchen

With Thanksgiving coming up next week, Christmas is just around the corner. Shopping for holiday gifts can be difficult when you don't know what to buy your friends or family. So, I've made up a list of 15 things Disney fans would love to have in their kitchens. They would make great gifts for the holidays or anytime of the year. The items are listed in order of price (lowest to highest).

1. Ice Cube Molds

I've been eyeing this adorable ice cube tray in the Disneyland gift shops for a long time, but I still haven't purchased it. I love all the different shapes representing the different characters, the castle, and especially the Mickey ice cream bar. Since it is made of silicone, it could also double as a chocolate mold.

For Star Wars fans, I also found this set of molds with lots of different shapes to make ice cubes, chocolates, or even soaps.

This Darth Vader ice mold is also really cool for just one big ice cube for drinks that lasts a long time. There is also a Stormtrooper ice mold just like it.

2. Mug

A mug is always a good gift and it's even better when it features one of your favorite characters. This Winnie the Pooh mug is a cute way to enjoy coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. I like that it has a lid that help your drink stay warm. There are also Stitch, Mickey, and Cheshire Cat versions of the mug. If you are looking for a different character, there are literally hundreds of mugs on the shopDisney site.

3. Holiday Baking Set

For the person that likes to bake or for kids baking cookies for Santa, this delightful holiday baking set is a great idea. It comes with all the essential tools to make some yummy cookies. 

4. Spatula

Flipping pancakes on Saturday morning would be a lot more fun with a Stormtrooper spatula. You can also choose from a Darth Vader or R2-D2 spatula or you can get the set of all 3.

5. Measuring Cup Set

To help with making those pancakes or anything else, this R2-D2 measuring cup set would come in handy to measure your ingredients. This droid would also look great displayed on the kitchen counter.

Little ones will enjoy this adorable Mickey Mouse Clubhouse wooden sandwich-making set by Melissa & Doug. I wish there were toys like this when I was a kid.

10. Waffle Maker

Eating Mickey waffles in the parks is always fun, but why not make them at home whenever you want? I found this delightful Minnie Mouse waffle maker, but there is also a Mickey($29.99) version. If you're interested, there are quite a few other character waffle makers out there. Check out the Anna and Elsa snowflake($24.95), Olaf(29.99), Lightning McQueen($34.95), BB-8($39.95), and Darth Vader($39.95).

11. Popcorn Popper

A necessity for a Disney movie night is popcorn. The perfect gift for someone that often likes to watch Disney movies at home would be this Mickey popcorn popper. There is also a Pixar collection popcorn popper that pops a little more popcorn at once for about $5 more.

This Mickey Mouse trivet is an excellent gift for someone that likes a subtle hint of Disney in their decor. If you're not paying too much attention to detail, you probably wouldn't notice that there is a Mickey design in the center. It is great for serving your hot dishes at the holiday dinner table.

13. Apron

A Disney fan that likes to cook or bake might enjoy doing so in a Disney apron. I really love this Haunted Mansion one that looks like the costumes worn by the hostesses at the attraction. It used to only be sold in the parks, but now it is available online. I've also always admired the Minnie Mouse apron. There's a holiday apron($26.99) and a Captain America apron($14.95) that I thought were worth checking out as well.

14. Mickey Chocolate Fountain

Who wouldn't love a chocolate fountain? A Mickey chocolate fountain would be perfect for a Disney themed party or just to get chocolate wasted with the family. 

15. Soup Pot

This last item is a little pricey, but great if you are willing to spare no expense for a Beauty and the Beast fan. This Beauty and the Beast Le Creuset Soup Pot is beautiful. It is the color of Belle's ball gown and adorned with red roses on the lid. The gold knob even reads "Be Our Guest". It is a limited edition of 1,000 pots made for the collaboration. Le Creuset is known for their high-quality cookware that can last a lifetime. I bet french onion soup would taste even better being served from this pot.

National Grilled Cheese Day at The Melt

Yesterday was National Grilled Cheese Day! Did you have a grilled cheese sammie to celebrate? I got mine from the opening celebration of The Melt at the Americana at Brand in Glendale. 

 It was such a nice day to walk around the Americana, but I was on a mission to get some free grilled cheese.

 You can find The Melt's newest location on Brand Blvd. at the Americana. They have several locations across California.

 I like their logo. You can't miss the big, bright orange circle.

 Here's what it looks like inside. They also have a small patio in the front to sit outside and enjoy your meal.

 This is another glimpse of the inside. This wall tells you all about the food you are getting. Sounds good to me.

 I thought their soda fountain was really cool. I've never seen one like this before. It pours out Boylan Bottling Co. cane cola, root beer, and lemon lime. They also have iced tea and filtered water to choose from.

 This is a peek behind the counter. They were busy grilling and serving up tons of sammies for the long line of grilled cheese fans waiting outside.

 Finally, I was able to sit down and dig in. 

I was given the classic melt with tomato basil soup along with a pickle. The classic consists of aged cheddar on artisan white bread. As you can see, there is lots of cheese on there. I thought it was all really good. 

I will be back to try some of their other melts for sure. 

Soup and Salad in Pacific Wharf

During a recent trip to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure (DCA), we made our way through Hollywood Land and A Bug's Land to the Pacific Wharf before going to Paradise Pier in DCA. We had to fuel up before riding Toy Story Midway Mania.

There are several quick-service restaurants in this area, but we decided on Pacific Wharf Cafe. It is one of my favorites.

I love the sourdough bread bowls.

Here is the Sonoma Chicken and Apple Salad that I ordered. It is served in a huge bread bowl made in  the Boudin bread factory in the same building. You can take a tour of the factory with free samples throughout the day. 

The bread bowl is filled with lettuce, Granny Smith apples, chicken salad, and topped with dried cranberries and chives. It is really tasty and filling. Not bad for $9.99. (Annual Passholders also receive a discount here.) I usually can only eat the salad and top of the bread bowl. I ask for a bag to take the bowl home to eat later. Don't forget the butter!

This is the Loaded Baked Potato Soup in a bread bowl that my friend had. I didn't try it, but when the weather gets colder, I'm definitely going to try this. It looks good.

After our meal, we were ready for the rest of our night.
